Mr. Noah Hamrick is in his third year of teaching Agriculture classes and sponsoring FFA at TLHS. Classes offered in his program include: Principles of Ag, Animal Science, Advanced Animal Science, Plant and Soil Science, ALS Plant and Soil Science. His classes are open to all high school students in grades 9-12.
Students learn many useful skills in the various Ag classes including how to properly ID livestock animals, how to properly handle large and small animals, how to identify different types of soils, and how to describe agriculture to non-agriculture members of society.
Students are able to earn dual credit points towards college and they are able to complete FFA degree certificates depending on their involvement. Students are also able to earn ICEV certificates of proper veterinary techniques.
Many former students pursue careers within the ag and animal fields such as working as a vet technician at a local Veterinary office using the skills of equipment ID and properly handling small animals and attending college to pursue Agronomy and using the skills of identifying soil properties in northern and southern Indiana.
In his free time, Mr. Hamrick, called Hammy by his students, spends time as a livestock trader for swine and judging county shows during the summer. While growing up, he was always involved in 4-H and showing livestock.
