Virtual Learning
The state of Indiana allows schools to schedule up to 3 Asynchronous Virtual Learning days during a school year – these days are ‘often’ known ahead of time and allow for PD for our staff. These asynchronous learning days give the most flexibility to the schools (and to many families) for participating in the instruction (often, a video clip, online work, etc) as the work can be completed over the course of that day as a family sees fit.
However, beginning with the 2022-23 school year, schools now have to consider ‘Synchronous Virtual Learning Days’ when it comes to other issues impacting traditional schooling (i.e. weather conditions, facility issue, etc). During these synchronous virtual learning days, it is expected that students join the online learning while the teacher is also online. This may be more difficult, but gives families and schools another tool in the toolbox. It is expected students join the synchronous learning via Google Meet (a link provided through the teacher’s Google Classroom).
We are in the year 2023 and having options in both teaching and learning will ultimately help our students to be more productive as they face a future that relies more and more on flexible learning options. We thank families for their support to best meet the needs of our students.
